The Realities of Travel

Sometimes traveling is boring. Sometimes it’s lonely. Sometimes it hot. Sometimes it’s cold. Sometimes you book a place in Florence, Italy only to have your flight delayed, arrive in an empty street in the middle of the night, only to realize your hotel is locked, there’s no way in, & no one is working or answering phones. You panic for a second, & realize there’s plenty of places around if you just google it (not that that ever happened to me ;).

Other times you book a 13 different flights around the world with separate airlines only to have to the worst worldwide pandemic in 100 years, and have to cancel/ lose thousands of dollars on flights. Not that that happened to me or anything haha.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s a lot of fun. It’s a major adventure as well. But things also aren’t always what they seem. You can be in the most beautiful place in the world and still miss home. You can plan every last detail planned, and have one thing come in and alter the whole thing. That’s life though, right?

In all honesty, it is a ton of fun. It’s just not necessarily always the highlight you see in a photo. Sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes the real highlights are just meeting people, conversing, struggling through finding your way, etc.

Alright, enough of that. How can you complain about the opportunity to travel the world. It’s a blessing. First world probs, right?
