Everything I Never Wanted

I actually wanted everything to be perfect. I wanted it all to go as planned. I wanted it to be smooth. I wanted it to be graceful. I had a vision of where I wanted to go, and I did everything I could to get there…

… but, it didn’t.

So I took a new route; a route that wasn’t clear cut. I went places I wasn’t given permission. I avoided doing what I was told I must. I went the opposite way of what was comfortable. I pushed and dreamed, and scraped and clawed.

Nothing went exactly as planned. Try as I might, I couldn’t get what I initially wanted. So here I am, everywhere I’ve never thought, doing everything I never wanted. And it’s a beautiful surprise!
