…But I Am Not… Yet

I’d like to be unstuck, but I am not…

… yet.

I’d like to be totally original, but I am not…

… yet.

I’d like to feel fully confident in this, but I am not…

… yet.

I’d like to be well traveled, but I am not…

… yet.

I’d like to be an author, but I am not…

… yet.

The things I would like to be, I am not…

… yet.

… But that won’t stop me from dreaming. It won’t stop me from pushing. It won’t stop me from trying. And it shouldn’t stop you either.

We all have things we would like to be, things we would like to do, but have not done or become yet. But that shouldn’t stop us.

If you have something you want to do or become, start out with a why. Find a reason why you should do those things. Is it a battle you’re fighting and need to overcome? Are there others that are fighting this same battle? In pursuing this goal, could you help others like yourself? Is it a story you need to tell others? Maybe it’s even just a story you need to tell yourself for your own sanity, a battle you need to fight for your own well being.

Once you find these reasons, you have purpose. You have a reason to pursue this. The next step is to begin, and to give yourself grace throughout the process. Give yourself grace that you won’t be there right at the start. Give yourself grace that in this reconstructive process, it might be challenging, and it might get a little messy. You might make some mistakes, and you might fail…

… But you also might learn, and grow. You also might be able to share something positive with the people around you.

So who cares if you’re not there… yet?
