You Can Be Creative Too
If you want to be creative, it’s simple.
Take an idea, an image, a quote, etc that you like. Then change it. Reconstruct it to say something a little different, or totally different. It’s up to you.
If you try this and you end up with something too similar to the source of origin, find something else that inspires you. Maybe even find several things that inspire you. Try to mesh them all together.
Try to make your own new version by reshaping those things that have inspired you. The more sources of inspiration that you can find and ‘steal from’, the more original you become. All the great creatives in history have found inspiration and built off of what has come before them.
If you find inspiration, create something, and you’re still not happy with the end product, do one of two things.
One, lower your expectations. Find something not quite as skilled that inspires you and try to recreate that. You may need to start simple before you can move on to advanced things.
Two, practice. This is the least popular option, but maybe the most important. It’s what separates average from good and good from great.
Its okay to take ideas from other sources, as long as you change and reconstruct them. After all, no thing comes from nowhere. Everything builds off of what came before and nothing is perfect.
