Why I Journal (Short Read)

You’re time and attention are valuable to me. That’s why all of my journal entries are short. All posts are a 5 minute read or less.

A year or two ago I hit a wall where I felt incredibly stuck in life. During that time I started journaling as a way to process things. I don’t know how I started, but I know that by the end of the year I had written probably over 500 pages. It helped me a lot.

Then the next year I decided, why not make these public? It might be helpful to other people that are going through similar situations. Maybe if I drop my mask a little and share some things candidly, others could benefit.

So that’s why I made this. Since that time of feeling stuck, I’ve done a lot of internal processing, talked to a lot of people, got some help, and read a ton of books.

I also decided I wanted to travel the world, see the world’s most famous artworks, and document everything through sketches and videos. I planned the trip myself, did most of it solo, and covered over 45,000 miles including several states, and 10 different countries. Currently, I’m in the middle of doing a full year without using social media, and documenting that experience as well. The end goal of all of this is to publish my first book. I want to make something to share with my family, friends, coworkers, and students. If you fit into any of those categories, then I’m writing this for you. If you don’t, but you can relate to any of it, or it sounds interesting, then nice to meet you! Feel free to follow along as well.

P.S. My website only displays my most recent 15 journal posts at a time. If you’d like to see more (There’s well over 100), you’ll have to click on the main ‘journal’ page and scroll to the bottom. Then click the ‘older’ button to see older posts. You can also keep clicking ‘next post’ at the bottom of this one.
