Pt. 2 Washington DC: Tour Journal
I loved travelling around DC. The parts of the city I was in were so clean and pristine, with white buildings everywhere. Also the scooters were awesome to travel around on. I cruised all over that city on an electric scooter.
In addition, never have I ever been anywhere where I’ve felt more like a celebrity than D.C. It turns out that if you stand in front of the Lincoln Memorial and do a good sketch of it, people will recognize you and want photos with you for the rest of the day. I got stopped multiple times by groups big and small all over the city. I think that’s one thing I like about being an artist though. People seem to become more comfortable with you when they see that your intentions for being somewhere are literally just to see how well you can sketch it. I’ve had strangers come up and share all kinds of personal things about their lives with me while I’ve been out sketching. By far, the best part of traveling, or life in general, is the people you meet along the way.
